DAY 3: YEG TO LAX

Hello all!!

Day 3 today :)

Today we went to Universal Studios! :) I didn't really want to go but I'm glad I did. It was definitely a lot of fun. We went to get the annual pass at Costco so I also got a churro hehehe

$1.00

The signage

took a pic with them minions.

LOL!! so cute. there were also smaller ones for the 3 blind mice but I didn't get it in the shot.

First show was the special effects! super cool to see it all unfold.

picture with Homer ;) hahaha

Had this for lunch. soo good. but maybe because I was hungry.

half rack and chicken with corn bread, coleslaw and potatoes.

Another show we watche was water worlds. Defs unexpected show AND super cool fire and stunts!!

NOMS I love this stuff.

We went on a Studio Tour which brought us to many places but not all my pictures were that great. Got to see the outside of studios and see the houses where they filmed the Desperate Housewives as well as other movies and my fave Parenthood <3 We also got to experience the largest 3D show which was really cool and scary hahaha. We also went into this cave that simulated things in movies I guess? omg I got pretty wet when that area "flash flooded" hahahaha I screamed fearing my camera would be damaged.

I posted this up because it's neat. the guide told us that the windows higher up are shorter because when they film if they need the building to be higher they can just use the computer to "stretch" it out to make the building seem taller!

Cars from the Fast and Furious franchise!

wreckage from the set of War of the Worlds. Pretty cray. It's a real plane that apparently cost 26, 000 or 260 000 to ship. LOL I forget the exact amount but yeah!! they had to slice it up into 4 pieces and have it shipped.

this is a blue screen similar to the green screen. this has shot many awesome films and basically there's a dip in front of it where the directors can fill it with many things. Mostly with water but apparently it needs to be cold because if it's warm it's picked up as a "warm body" PROPS TO YA ACTORS/ACTRESSES!!

got a pic with Marilyn ;)

went to Krusty land hahaha it was fun. it was one of those interactive rides where you sit and it "moves" you with it.

After we watched the Animal show where they show animals they have trained.

a cute fox in training!

the dog from The Proposal!! haha so cute.

so this boy volunteered to do something. and I forget where this dog is from. does someone remember? but... the reason I posted a pic of him is because...

these two dogs were going to compete with one another. so basically (one at a time) they jump over the kid who is hunched over like leaps frog and then they weave through the poles (visible in this picture) and then go through a chute, back over the boy and then ring the bell. The back one did great. The tan one, not so great. first he went under the boy. didn't even weave the poles then he proceeded went through the chute..... but the biggest thing is instead of going over the boy (or even under for that matter) he actually peed using the boy as a post.. HAHAHAHAH I'm not sure if the boy got much on him cause he didn't even notice until the host pointed it out. it was pretty funny.

DIPPING DOTSSSS.

short story time!

when they first came out 4 years ago? or something I had the cookies and cream and thought it was DISGUSTING. so after that I never ate it again. We have stores that opened in my city but I didn't ever get them. Today at the Universal Studios SO many people had them I was like K it must have SOMETHING that's making everyone get it. so this time I got a chocolate one with some banana split ones put on top. and holy shit. DA BOMB DIGGITY. :headspin: I'm seriously going to be eating it all the time now....

**OTHER PLACE WE WENT TO THAT I HAVE NO PICS OF: we also watched the Shrek 4D show which is also an interactive ride but not as intense as Krustyland LOL

After we went to eat dinner with my mom's friends BF(?)

so yummy!! eheh we didn't even finish. in total we each had our own soup and rice and fish thing. then we shared the galbi and the sides (which are free refill). pretty good!!

After we went to his house to sing karaoke. no pics of that.

hehe can't wait for tomorrow!! we are heading to Huntington Library :)

DAY 2: YEG TO LAX

Hello all!!!

Today is day 2 and pretty much all we did was go shopping :P My pics are on my phone from today's lunch where we ate pho at Pho So 1. Funny because Calgary has the same place.. I wonder if it's the same franchise?? Anyway I had posted day 1 just now and thus I can't get the pics off my phone which is unfortunate.

After we went to see my mom's friend's sister/mom.

THEN FINALLY OUTLET!!!!!!!!!!!! woohoo!!! I was probably the only one who was SUPER stoked.

This was our lunch at some random Italian place at their food court.

I didn't take pics OF the outlet stores because.. why would I?! hahaha ! I've also been getting a lot of pretzels and stuff lately... hahah mostly because we don't have em at home!

NOMS. I just got a reg salted one with Jalapeno Cheddar.

After all this shopping we went to Nordstrom Rack because I wanted to see if they had Toms, Minnetonkas and Birkenstocks. They didn't so I guess I'll have to head to Nordstrom itself.

just an outfit I bought from Ann Taylor :) hehe I think it's so cute.

Then we went to my mom's friends other sisters house for a late dinner!

SO GOOD. Some chicken broth (made from scratch) with some chicken and noodles and some satay powder that's super yummy. very good

pickled green papaya  with some hoisin, hot sauce, red pepper flakes. also really good

finally some rice puffs!! haha I really enjoyed these as well. It had bits of pork floss throughout which gave it a bit of saltiness.

BAGS LOL I tried to get a pic of everything we got.

I got Fossil watches (one for me, one for Kerry) at $56 each because they were refurbished and it was BOGO 50%. I also bought a bunch of stuff from Ann Taylor !! Probably my new favourite store now. They had 50% off their whole factory store so I ended up spending 108 there on 3 tops, 1 maxi dress and 1 pair of crops. They are super cute and everything (minus the dress) will be perfect for IPT/APT :).I also bought some boat shoes from Bass. It was EXACTLY what I wanted from Sperry but Sperry doesn't sell this particular kind. AND Bass is super comfy AND it was only $40 since it was supposed to be 99 but there was a 60% off on it :) My mom bought two pairs of Clarks sandals. One was 24.99 and the other was 49.99? but we had 15% off with this brochure thing so she saved on her shoes. We also bought stuff from Michael Kors. Now there's a story to this which will be continued below... but we both bought a bag. Mine is a super cute , timeless tote which I now need to find a matching wallet for and my mom got a cute "clutch" or so. It's a smaller handbag really. It looks really cute hahah I can't stop saying cute... WHY?!?!?! anyhow we only ended up spending 260.... RIGHT?!?!? LOL!! K storytime.

SO with that brochure thing, because my mom's friend is an AAA member we can get discounts at certain stores. In the broschure, it said that we can get $25 off of $250 at MK. My bag was $199 and my mom's bag was $169 but was on clearance for 40% off which made it $101. Altogether our bags totalled $300 and so we went to pay. Prior to that we had asked my sales lady (who was amazing not because of whats to come but because she took really great care of us!!) if we can get the discount (we didn't even point it out to her) and she said yes! no matter what we bought. But at the register, the cashier said that we can't because my mom's bag is a clearance bag. We told her that's not what my SA said. The SA then convinced the cashier that indeed we are able to get the discount. The cashier then informed another manager (I'm guessing she is because she had the power to discount) and said that my SA claims that Kim said it was okay. That manager then asked my SA again and my SA insisted that Kim said yes. I'm guessing Kim is someone super important. Anyhow we paid (not really thinking much of the price) and when we left and looked over our bill, they actually gave us a 20% off discount!! Saving us a whooping $60 LOL!!! definitely a lot better than saving that measly $25 :P so that was really good.

Anyways!! that was it for day 2! Tomorrow, we will be heading to Universal & Huntington Library! Super exciting.

DAY 1: YEG TO LAX

HELLO!! It's been so long but I don't know ... I just haven't been really good with blogging during the year BUT... I'm on vacation again so I figured I shall blog once again :)

So today (the 17th of June) I left YEG to go to LAX with my mom. We came here for a vacation obviously and to visit her friends from JHS/HS (can't remember which one) and it was really neat! We're staying at one of their houses.

anyways here is pic #1

I was kind of reluctant to take this pic hahah!

LOL airplane treats. got some ginger ale because I didn't feel too good (2hours of sleep so I felt nauseous)

after we landed we went to this place and had some dimsum. some of my pics ended up being blurry so I'm not posting those.

liu sha bao. so effing. good.. look at the next pic and look at everything oozing out. sooo delicious.

all the dishes were 1.58 or something and all of the things are the SAME PRICE. wtf, not like how in Edmonton there are different prices for different items.

they have a Daiso! too bad I couldn't find the things I wanted :( *hair towel turban & sock bun thing

cute little plaza shopping things and palm trees

Vietnamese goodies!

I got an iced coffee. We actually drove around the city looking for nuoc mia but the 2 places we went to were out!!! so I had to settle for this because otherwise I could've gotten rau ma which is sick and what everyone else got.

mother with rau ma.. lol ew.. hahah it must be an acquired taste. in English, it's called Pennywort haha. that doesn't sound appealing already right?!

this is where we went for that! we also bought some goodies but I didn't take any pics

We also ended up at a mall called Westfield. I think it's like a chain mall? I don't know the exact one we were at but it had the promenade there? (unless they all have one I'm not sure). There I had some Auntie Anne's !! (pics on phone) so good. I love me some pretzel dogs with cheese dip ... AND CHERRY COKE. boo yeah! Also just walked around didn't really buy much. I did end up getting something from Teavana, nom nom nom.

AFTER, we went to eat dinner with the rest of my mom's old classmates at Nem Nuong.

UGH DOES THIS NOT LOOK DIVINE?? IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. I can usually eat banh beo all day err day but this.... damn. a whole nother world that's fo sho.

my sad roll LOL!!

SO CHEAP!! there were like 9 of us eating this!

After that we went to one of their houses to just chat. She has a LOT of flowers and cactus haha . pretty funny because we walked in and were all like "wow you have so many flowers" and then when we went around the corner... even more. !!

a rose

SHE ALSO HAS THEEE CUTEST  DOG EVER. A PUG. I can't remember his name but he's SO effing cute. I took many pics but this is my fave <3 He's only 3 months old.

Finally, we arrived to my mom's friends house and turns out she too has a dog!  Her name is Lulu and she is super old  like 13 years!! She's a chihuahua but obviously is mixed with something else because she sheds like cray and is definitely not chihuahua size (unless they come in this size!) super cute and friendly once she gets to know you. she's a little bit fat HAHA. I like playing with her.

such a lazy butt.

so my mom's friend convinced her to do this "exercise" thing where you aren't even exercising LOL!!! you just lie there and put your legs up on this machine and it'll vibrate and "move" your lower half... I tried it for 5 mins but it doesn't do much unless you actually engage your abs, then it's actually working something out. haha so odd. she did this for 30 mins.

Anyways that was it for day 1!! I totally wish I could get the other pics on here. Hopefully I will have time tomorrow.
