HI! Day 9 now :) I'm in Singapore! No
free wifi at this hotel... not even in the lobby :( so I'm typing
this in openoffice and will copy and paste once I do get internet
access!
To start off, my dad went and took
pictures of the pool at our HCM city hotel. We actually stopped by
when we came home from An Dong but we decided to go rest instead of
taking pics, so my dad went and did it today. It's so effin' gorgoeus
eh? Hahah I guess that's 5 stars for you :P it looks like a resort!
We left the hotel at 7 am and got to
the airport at 730. We were one of the first few there. We did our
baggage check first and then went through customs. I was so hungry so
we went looking for food ......
I think this BK was new because I came
up to this level 2 years ago and I don't remember a BK being there.
Anyhow, I needed some fast food in my system :P so I got the
breakfast combo which was so expensive :( $8 hahaha
a ham and cheese and egg crossaint with
hasbrown buttons and coffee. Afterwards we met up with everybody else
and at 10 am, we got onto our delayed plane to Singapore!!
The flight wasn't actually that great
LOL had *those* butterflies in my stomach a few too many times. Kinda
rocky flight too. Usually pilots tell you when you're experiencing
turbulence, but this one didn't. SO either we were going through
turbulence and he just didn't announce it, or he just sucked at
flying. I would go with the latter. Sorry ! I was surprised to find
out that for our 2 hour flight, we got a meal. We had a choice
between pork and rice or fish and noodles. I don't like fish much so
I went with the pork. It was really delicious!
The meat was similar
to a thit kho but the sauce was like a beef stew sauce. The
vegetables were actually seasoned quite nicely and they had a
particular nice sweet taste. The salad dressing (italian) was so
refreshing in my salad. I hadn't had salad in a while so it was nice
that it was a side! Didn't eat the fruit, gave it to my dad (for
reasons stated in prior posts). The bread was gross, but I kind of
expected that.
Here's the Singapore Changi airport!
(Is there more than one? Otherwise why would they need to name them?
Reminds me of Paris). We first went to the Suntec towers and
drove around it 3 times because apparently in aerial view, the towers
resemble a left hand and left hand = wealth. 3 times is supposed to
give us like good wealth or something. Usually you're supposed to
walk around it 3 times but we had no time so we drove LOL Next we
went to Merlion park! Here you can see us geeking out with tourist
hats. It was SO effin' hot in Singapore. Like I wanted to melt into a
puddle of human. I think they said it was 30 degrees, but it's
nothing like our 30 degrees because it's humid as a sauna here! I
seriously felt like I was in a sauna. Thank goodness that Merlion
park is right by the bay area so there was a slight breeze. Learned
what a Merlion was and the history behind it. Very cool!
Next we went to our hotel to check in
and eat lunch.
soya sauce chicken - too dry :(
sweet & sour pork - it was TOO saucy and the sauce was very strong in flavour
fish! - SO GOOD. unfortunately I don't know what kind of fish it is.
I don't particularly like tofu so this was meh LOL
onion omelette - very yummy!
egg with vegetables. it was okay but a little bit salty
veggies - typical veg :P
We were then given about 2 hours to
rest. My mom and I both took a nap. I was still tired though whe I
awoke. We went and ate dinner at this restaurant.
corn soup – nasty as eff. Like snot. Salty and corn was not soft. Such a first world problem because I had amazing corn soup at the wedding
onion omelette – just as good as this morning. This seems like a staple food here.
orange sweet and sour fish - delicious! :)
pork with onions! SO GOOD LOL I ate like half the plate
chicken with chillis and onions – disgusting. I wanted to wash my mouth out after.
Tofu with beans – ehh dont like tofu so that was kinda gross, the beans were ok
bokchoy – the flavour just isn't there. I really wanted to like it as I love bokchoy in a soy sauce with garlic but it was missing the oomf!
Watermelon – dont like it so didn't
eat it. Dad said it wasn't sweet anyway
Going down from the restaurant was
hilarious because one person heard floor 2 while another thought
floor 1. So we hit 2 and only a few people walked out to double check
if it was the correct floor but then the doors started closing! So
the majority of us was stuck going up in the elevator again only to
come back down :P After dinner, we took their subway system MRT to
Clarke Quay.
We
got to Clarke Quay which is right by a river that is a branch from
the Sing river. LOTS OF RUNNERS. I wish I could've ran with them haha
it's been a while since I've ran. They have stands of wine so you can
drink and sit by the river side! We all then got onto this boat that
takes us to the other side of the river. Here are the pics.
LOOK AT MY AMAZING
PANORAMIC SKILLZ. It was the place we were at in the morning that I
failed to get a no-tourist-head shot. But out on the water, no
tourist head in my way! Yay! :P When we got off, there was a water
and light show. SIMPLY AMAZING. Will be uploading a video onto my YT
channel that was probably never going to be resurrected haha It had
waterspraying out and I guess a projector that was projecting things
onto and at certain times, bubbles would be flying through the air.
It was so magical especially with the music in the BG!
WILL POST UP PICS/VID AT THE SAME TIME, but I can't right now because internet connection is too slow.
We went to the
mall that was right behind it and holy baller. It had all the stores
that I dream I can one day afford to shop at. I also went to the
casino but didn't play. It was SO baller in there and it honestly
probably had 1000+ machines and tables and such. It was SO big. I
wonder if I can pull up a picture from Google cause we weren't
allowed to take pictures inside. The tour guide Angie told us that
Singaporeans and PR (permanent residences) can't go into the casino
unless they pay $100 !! That's crazy. But foreigners is fine, but we
need to show our passport as proof of it. We had to show them our
passports again on the way out too!! so crazy. I also read that if
they didn't pay the 100 and snuck in somehow and was caught, they've
face fines of approx 1000!!! CRAY CRAY.
PS. LOL as we were
heading towards the casino, Angie told me I couldn't go and I was
like wtf why and she's like wait how old are you? HHAHA. Yet another
Asian girl problem :P
Anyhow, after this
we went back to our hotel and then a few of us went to Bugis
street!!! <3<3 I was so hoping to get more time there.. but we
only had 30 mins before closing time. I only bought a dress :( I did
get to try some drinks.
my mom got the
grass jelly, my aunt the swallows nest and I got the sour plum.
YUMYUM I wish I
could've gotten Milo Bing (like Kerry said I should) but my dad said
NO LOL cause I already had a drink in my hand hahaha
LOOK AT THESE
RAMUTANS.
Haha It's so different! The guy who sold it called it
hairless rambutan. The couple from USA bought some and gave everyone
with us one :) so nice of them! When Bugis was closing , we went to a
place nearby to eat since our dinner wasn't that great. There was the
couple from USA, the couple + daughter from France & us. We
ordered 2 tom yum seafood noodle and 1 kway teu.
We couldn't find
bowls so we did it ghetto style....... using sauce pans. HAHA It was
pretty funny but it was a good night. I like this tour group, or at
least half of it. The other couple I like is from Canada too but they
didn't join us to Bugis. The rest of the group I could do without ...
It's funny because the rest are from Vietnam and I don't know..
they're just really different. I guess I mesh better with people who
are from first world countries. Not saying it's a good or bad thing,
just an observation. And probably because I don't know Vietnamese so
it helps that the other couples and girl know English and Cantonese
:P
Anyways that's all
for Day 9! I should be sleeping now for another fun-filled day
tomorrow. I pray I can get wifi soon.
ALSO no mosquito bites today! YAY :D and I used mopiko on some acne that showed up and seriously, it's a miracle cream.
Thanks for reading
