Day 21

Days are almost up! I realized it'll only be 23 days not 24 since I didn't actually arrive here till the 23rd... (due to time zone differences). Anyways that's besides the point :)

We woke up and went to go eat breakfast. We went to a different place but the food choices were pretty much the same.

banh canh cua for my parents, aunt and cousin

banh canh ga for me.

I've come to conclude this is what the legit noodles taste like and it's not bad but just not what I'm used to. Also, I hate chicken on bone with skin. This is definitely a first world problem for me but I only like eating chicken breast... so I gave most of my chicken to my mom except for one piece LOL In return she gave me some cha lua and pork pieces. blech. haha

my dad, aunt and cousin got cafe da (I managed to take a pic this time)

my mom and I got cafe sua da. This one was a bit sweeter than yesterdays which I don't mind since the coffee is usually so strong.

Remember the sapodilla from yesterday? We took them with us to our place of breakfast and had them cut them up for us LOL. I've had these before and the texture of them is a mixture of pears and apples, but SUPER soft. Like melt in your mouth soft. They're also very sweet. I wish I could describe the flavour to you but there's really no way of describing it. You just have to try it :) I'm pretty sure they sell it overseas too.

Afterwards, we went to a temple which was pretty and small. It was on a mountain area and SO serene. There were also many different fruit plants and pretty flowers!

some tiger thing with bamboo trees!

a 700 year old tree!!

a myrtle tree. that fruit I talked about ;P

a sheep?? LOL I'm not sure but so cute!

a dragon LOL

an actual dragon figure

see no evil!!! my dad didn't take the other 2 unfortunately :(

orchids :)

cherimoya!!

orchid on a tree lol

jasmine flowers. They smelled SO good!

We went to a nuoc mam place after.

These LARGE barrels are used to make nuoc mam! I believe it was 1/3 salt and 2/3 fish?? Something like that. The coolest part is that the wooden planks are held together by thin pieces of wood twined together. No nails are used because the rusting could cause the sauce to taste gross etc and have it be dirty. Although I don't know why they painted the outside of it a red colour LOL!!!

After this we went back to our hotel to rest where I had an unpleasant time :( I think I had food poisoning or something from the night before because I threw up my breakfast. WAHH. Sad and horrible. I felt soooo crappy for a good 30 mins... because then we had to leave for lunch -___-" I obviously ate nothing but still took pictures for my blog! I will assume everything was good because my cousin and my parents each took a business card so they could come back to the restaurant in the future.

AGAIN WITH THESE SIDEWAYS PICS . how annoying.

This is some sort of raw fish. I don't know what it's called but I believe it's indigenous to this area. When eaten raw, there are no bones but when you do cook the fish, bones appear. LOL I think the bones are probably hardened when cooked.... but I don't know what it's like raw because no way in hell would I put some raw seafood in me after my puking episode.

coconut

eggs with onion :P HHAA reminds me of Sing/Malay!

fried fish.. ugh the type I hate too lol

canh chua.

After this wonderful lunch that I never got to try but everything looked good, we went back onto our boat thingy (super dong 2) back to rach gia. I was afraid of getting motion sickness (like I did on the way to phu quoc) and so I bought some candies. I didn't end up eating them because I slept for the whole 2.5 hours since I was so tired and beat from my issue. I did take a picture of the goodies I bought when I got to my grandma's though. The total cost for this lot was $1.75 LOL the sugus cost 20 cents each, the gum cost 1.25 and the mentos was 10 cents. I guess they do up the price on the boat but it's still cheap to me! Also on the way home I actually looked at the prices of the cans of pop for purchase on the boat and it's only 50 cents a can.. LOL expensive by their standards but definitely not by ours!

After we got off the boat, I wanted to eat something so I got a bun. The chick told me there was nothing inside which is what I wanted. Well I really wanted one with coconut inside but they didn't have any... so I settled for the nothing. Unfortunately it had green bean LOL. I don't hate it but it's not what I wanted so I just ate around the filling :P First world problems I tell ya!

When we got back to my grandma's (around 6 pm), I wanted to eat some congee. Well I wanted to eat some since my problem happened but we couldn't find any so yeah.

congee with some shredded dried pork

waffles <3<3 I'm gonna miss these when I go home :(

That is it for 21! :)

Thanks for reading!!
